DESCRIPTION: We have been retained by Elmhurst Hospital Center, a member of NYC Health and Hospitals Corporation and a Level I Trauma Center, serving Queens, to locate an Associate Executive Director of Nursing for Ambulatory Care. Elmhurst Hospital is an academic medical center affiliated with The Mount Sinai School of Medicine and provides innovative quality patient care. This position reports to the Senior Associate Executive Director of Ambulatory Care of the hospital and provides leadership for one of the busiest Ambulatory Care Departments within the five boroughs of NYC. This facility serves the corridor between LaGuardia and Kennedy Airports with the most diverse multi-cultural populations in the world, speaking over 100 languages. The department consists of 50 plus hospital based clinics, 2 off-site school based clinics and five small off-site clinics each with a total approximate volume of 500,000 patient visits annually. The Senior Associate Director of Nursing for Ambulatory Care is supported by three Assistant Directors of Nursing for Pediatrics, Adult Primary Care and Specialties, 10 Head Nurses/Supervisors, 18.6 Nurse Practitioners and 166 FTEs. The responsibilities of this position include oversight of all administrative, clinical and fiscal activities in Ambulatory Care Services to ensure professional nursing practice and quality patient care. The Associate Executive Director of Nursing for Ambulatory Care has oversight of all professional nursing and allied personnel assigned to the Ambulatory Care Services Division, including Nurse Practitioners, RN’s, LPN’s, PCA’s and Dental Technicians. EXPERIENCE: The successful candidate must be an RN with a MSN or a related Masters Degree. He/she should be a high energy, flexible, confident individual with progressive leadership experience working in a busy, urban, multi-cultural ambulatory care setting.
