DESCRIPTION: We have been retained by a Community Hospital situated in Nassau County to locate an RN Administrative Coordinator for a 25 bed Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit. This position is responsible for psychiatric nursing care consultation, assessing learning needs, customer-focused care, performance and improvement activities, staff education and patient advocacy.
The Inpatient General Psychiatry Unit is comprised of a team consisting of a Chief of Behavioral Health Services, Nurse Manager, a staff psychiatrist, social workers, Nurse Practitioners, Art and dance therapy classes, staff nurses and patient care aides. The Chief Nursing Officer has a participatory management style and provides the staff and leadership team with a warm, supportive work environment.
Key responsibilities include:
• Develop short and long term care objectives ensuring high standards of patient care for the department in conjunction with the Nurse Manager and Medical Director.
• Collaborate with Nurse Manager to design, interpret and implement department philosophies, goals, standards, policies and procedures in accordance with departmental committees, and Nursing Executive approval.
• Support and encourage active staff involvement in the development of standards of care, problem-solving skills, and unit planning directed toward optimum care of the patients.
• Provide clinical supervision for nursing staff.
• Provide performance appraisal for nursing management staff & supervising staff of TPS.
• Plan, organize and facilitate with Staff Development Department yearly education plans, learning needs and programs designed to enhance staff skills.
EXPERIENCE:
The candidate of choice should be an RN preferably with an MSN in Behavioral Health
Nursing, a minimum of five years staff nurse experience in Behavioral Health coupled with progressive leadership experience as a Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist or Behavioral Health Nurse Educator. RN Candidates with a related Masters Degree and experience as a Behavioral Health Nurse Manager or Educator are also welcome to apply.
